By far my FAVORITE place to eat. Energetic atmosphere. Staff is always friendly and eager to assist you with any needs. The food is always wonderful. I can go with my family or eat alone and I'm never disappointed!

This place never fails to impress me. Food comes out really quick, the staff is friendly and it is a family friendly atmosphere. Their menu is loaded with just about anything that you can be in the mood for if you have a hankering for Mexican.

Monterrey in Monroe has been a favorite for my family for several years. We have gotten a variety of dishes from them, but tend to stick to our favorites. My mom, sister, and I all love the Monterrey cheesesteak burrito, which is filled with steak and grilled onions and peppers and smothered in cheese. My dad always gets the enchiladas and my brother tends to get taquitos. I did try the steak fajitas this time which also met my expectations. The portions are always huge and combined with the complimentary chips and salsa, we always all have leftovers. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Union county for sure!

I've not given 5 stars this summer 'til now. Nothing was wrong - everything right. The chips were thin, the salsa was not too spicy, the guacamole was perfect to me, (I lived in Texas 8 years) but my son said it was a little too spicy. I notice he ate it anyway. He had a chicken dish and could not finish it. he is 6'3" and usually finishes every scrap. My nachos with shrimp was off the charts good. They were bathed in a slightly spicy cheese sauce; the shrimp were pan friend not boiled which improved the flavor. My son had a beer, on draft and I had half and half tea. Service was seamless even though there were many diners. The parking lot is large enough. The air conditioning was not too cool. I can't imagine why this place is not lauded more!

Overall decent Mexican Food, with a good atmosphere. Place is always busy and lively. Good alternative for the family.

Not really sure why this place is not a five star location. I have been over 10 times now at all different times of the day with a few different couples and never once have a heard a bad review. Either way the service there is great and you can tell they work together. We are newly from jax fl and we loved salsas there and were very happy to have found Monterreys. All around a great Mexican restaurant!

Since my last review, we did have a bad experience with not getting drinks until the middle of our meal (had to ask the hostess as not to embarrass him and she made it a bigger deal than it needed to be!), but our waiter was new so we can overlook this now, looking back. Previous, 5 Star Review: Really great food and always wonderful service! Owner is sooo so nice! I order my food with a few requests (I'm very picky) and they are always extremely accommodating! We have never once had poor service. If I could make one suggestion.... the margaritas could be stronger for the price... FYI for the owner: We would always order Lime Margaritas... I feel there is too much lime flavoring and not enough alcohol. This was last year though (we stopped ordering them due to this fact).
